Living Well Transitions is thrilled to introduce and welcome the latest addition to our clinical team, Kelly Sue Cross, LSW. Kelly Sue is our newest Therapist, yet not unfamiliar to the Living Well model.
Kelly Sue is a long time "Boulderite", living and working here for 25 years. She was an employee, for over 7 years, at Penny Lane Coffee House where LWT's Founder, Bill Sell, was a regular customer and musical performer. Kelly Sue called him a fixture, not only at Penny Lane, but in the Boulder community. When Kelly finished her MSW in 2004, Bill was just forming Living Well Transitions. He asked to meet with her and offered her a part-time job as a Life Skills Counselor. She was energized by his mission and his vision of a program that was cutting edge, however Kelly couldn't take the position at the time, but Living Well never left her mind.
Over the last few years, Kelly Sue reached out to Living Well looking for the opportunity to be a part of Bill's vision that had come to life. That opportunity surfaced and we are fortunate to have Kelly Sue as part of our team.
Kelly Sue holds an Art degree from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design and earned her MSW from Denver University. Before coming to LWT, she was the Program Director for a wrap around program for adolescents in Denver. In addition to her role as Therapist at Living Well, she has her own parenting consulting practice in Boulder. Kelly has two young sons, Max and Theo. Motherhood is so valuable to her and has greatly influenced her role as a Therapist. She understands the fears, anxieties, and the "letting go" that parents consistently struggle with.
Kelly Sue uses Acceptance and Commitment therapy in her work with clients, as well as Solution Focused Brief Therapy. She connects deeply with the contemplative view of LWT, as she has a long-standing mindfulness practice herself. Her philosophy in life comes from a quote by Howard Thurman, "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." Kelly operates from this philosophy everyday and supports her clients in searching for and embodying what makes them come alive.
