As Head of School, I am pleased to welcome Michelle Ralston as the new Dean of Academics for the King George School.
Michelle joins us from St. Johnsbury Academy, an independent day and boarding school located in Vermont, where she formally served as the Dean of Academic Affairs and the Chair of the Mathematics Department.
Michelle brings over 30 years of secondary education leadership experience to the King George School.
While at St. Johnsbury Academy Michelle was responsible for the development and implementation of a standards based curriculum for a faculty of more than 100 teachers serving the instructional needs of over 1,000 students. She was also responsible for the development, review and refinement of school policies and procedures, incorporating computer literacy and technology programs into the classroom, and supervising the system-wide review of instructional techniques.
Michelle has been a recipient of the State Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching and the Stetson Distinguished Teacher Award for her excellence as a teacher and leader. She also serves as a consultant for Independent School Management of Wilmington, DE where she consults to private and public school academic departments in areas such as strategic and long range planning, leadership training, and implementing mission-driven academic programs. Michelle has also served as a consultant to The College Board and as director of the Advanced Placement Incentive Program of the Vermont Department of Education.
We are very pleased to have Michelle join the leadership team at the King George School. She will officially assume her role as Dean of Academics at the end of June.
