As Head of School I am pleased to announce that Willie Baracchi has joined the King George School faculty as fine arts instructor.

Originally from Valencia, Venezuela, Willie is a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) in Boston. In addition to his Studio Art Diploma from SMFA, he was also trained in Architectural Studio at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received a minor concentration in Public Art from the Academy of Visual and Fine Arts in Enschede, Netherlands. His awards include the Medici Society of Boston 2004 Award Scholarship to the SMFA Diploma Program and Deans Discretional Grants for 2005 through 2008 at SMFA. Willie has exhibited with the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Academy of Visual and Fine Arts in Enschede, the Davis Museum at Wellesley College, the Provincetown Art Association, the Broward Art Guild in Florida, and multiple other juried exhibitions at galleries in Vermont.

Willie brings new perspective and depth to the fine arts program at King George. Beyond his skill in teaching Studio Art, Willie specializes in Installation Art, an artistic genre that utilizes a variety of media to create site-specific three-dimensional works designed to transform the perception of space. As an artist he states: “Using a variety of materials and working in a large scale, I intend to create a dialogue between issues and solutions. My goal is to create whimsical interventions in space with an ironic twist that encourages the viewer to explore the issue in a simple and playful manner.”

Over the past week Willie has already begun to share his creative abilities, extensive experience and energetic personality with our students and staff. Beyond just the studio, our entire 300 acre campus now becomes a canvas for our students. The interaction of landscape, natural elements, buildings and more will open our students to new opportunities for creative expression.

We welcome Willie to the King George School community.
