In the past, educational loans have offered families of all backgrounds an affordable way to manage the cost of private education. As of this spring, changes have occurred in the K-12 educational loan industry that are affecting both families and schools. Being that Clark Educational Loans Inc. (CCEL) specializes in lending options for families; we would like to explain some of the changes taking place and address the available solutions.

The most obvious change occurred on April 18, 2008, when the suspension of the Prep Gate/Teri loan was announced. As time went on, subtler changes were also felt by consumers, such as tightened eligibility requirements and higher interest rates. Last Friday, another major change took place: Key Education Resources, a leader in K-12 financing, sent letters to non-traditional K-12 schools notifying them that the Key Achiever loan would no longer be offered to their schools. There is no doubt that our changing economy is affecting the educational loan industry.

The good news is, there are alternatives to private educational loans. Clark Behavioral Health Financing was developed two years ago to answer the call for financing solutions from programs that did not qualify for educational loans. Their clients needed help financially, and CCEL felt that with our resources and experience we were just the company to fulfill this need. Time has proven our feeling to be correct, and we're happy to say that currently we have some of the most competitive unsecured financing options available. As with any of the loan products we offer, the interest rates and loan amounts are based solely on the applicant's credit score and a comparison of their debt to income. Interest rates start as low as 8% and loans have been approved for as much as $100,000. Various terms and benefits are available depending on the applicant's needs and eligibility. CCEL provides multiple product choices because we believe that people should have accessible, flexible financing options, especially in a time of crisis. We will continue offering individuals and families assistance with both educational and alternative loan products. Over the years, we have enjoyed mutually beneficial relationships with schools and referring professionals. Thank you for your support and we will continue to keep you posted.
