Jones Learning Center
University of the Ozarks’ Jones Learning Center was founded in 1971, becoming part of one of the oldest universities west of the Mississippi River. The Learning Center offers services to students who show a “potential for success” in a competitive learning environment, but who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities and/or attention deficit disorder. The 1:4 staff to student ratio at the Learning Center enables students to receive individualized services in study skills, writing, reading, math, and science, while allowing the students the opportunity to become fully integrated into campus life.
To be admitted into the Learning Center program, students must demonstrate average intellectual intelligence, have a specific learning disability or attention deficit disorder as a primary disability, show strength in at least one academic area, complete a one or two day evaluation, and participate in interviews with the director and admissions committee.
The Jones Learning Center prides itself in being a caring positive place where their students receive a “personal touch.” Their “family-like” atmosphere provides students with a support network that reaches throughout college and beyond.
