We are pleased to announce the latest addition to our faculty, Michael Sletcher. Michael has earned a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge after receiving his Undergraduate and Master's degrees from Carleton University. Michael's CV includes a Visiting Fellowship at Harvard University and most recently, has served as the editor-historian of The Yale University Indian Papers Project and as the Assistant Editor-historian for The Papers of Benjamin Franklin, also published by Yale.
Dr. Sletcher's career has combined serious scholarship with a commitment to teaching and we here at JDA are excited that he plans to continue on the Executive Committee for the Indian Papers when he joins the Dewey faculty this fall. Dr. Sletcher's lengthy bibliography encompasses six books that he either wrote or edited, as well as numerous articles, book chapters, and other presentations. His distinguished list of awards and grants includes a Lifetime Fellowship in the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust. Even in an outstanding pool of candidates which included a Fulbright Scholar with a doctorate from Oxford, Dr. Sletcher stood out to both staff and students as an exciting addition to our highly credentialed faculty.
The John Dewey Academy's faculty is led by a Rhodes Scholar who received her Ph.D. from Stanford University and who has been on the Dewey staff for ten years. Another of our teachers has served as a special Ambassador to the United Nations. All but two possess doctorates in their areas of specialization, along with considerable college teaching experience. Collectively, this tiny staff has written or edited ten books, as well as over 200 articles and chapters.
JDA's strong faculty and emphasis on our powerful academic program as a central component of our therapeutics helps us to graduate students who belong at the foremost colleges and universities in the United States, and who are also mature enough to manage the stresses of college life successfully. We welcome Dr. Sletcher to our team.
