The John Dewey Academy, housed in an historic property in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, is a non-traditional, year-round, therapeutic boarding school for high-potential students who have not been succeeding in school and life. Our mission is to empower bright but underachieving adolescents to overcome social, emotional, and academic challenges in order to attend quality colleges and lead healthy, productive, and successful lives. JDA carries out this mission through integrating a rigorous academic program and intensive, coordinated therapeutic services within a peer-based environment. Our program instills a vital sense of responsibility and moral leadership in our students while helping them reclaim a love of learning and a collegiate future.

Position: Clinician/Psychotherapist
Experienced and clinically sophisticated therapist needed to join the clinical team at our unique therapeutic boarding school for bright, college-bound adolescents in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts (see jda.org). The ideal candidate is comfortable handling a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues using an integrated and developmentally-informed framework. The ideal candidate enjoys working closely on a team, exhibiting and modeling open-mindedness, optimism, and a warm yet firm approach with students. Responsibilities include group, individual and family therapy as well as overseeing and coordinating the student life milieu. Experience working with adolescents in a school and/or residential treatment setting preferred. Qualifications: Master's or Doctorate degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling with 5 years' experience. Licensed or license-eligible in the state of MA preferred. Training in evidence-based practices highly desirable but not required (e.g. MI, CBT, DBT).
