Founded in 1989, Hudson Valley Psychodrama Institute provides professional training, clinical internships, on-site psychodrama services, and consultation services for hospitals, substance abuse programs, mental health programs, schools, and human service agencies.
Co-founder and co-director, Rebecca Walters received her Master's degree in Expressive Therapies from Lesley College. She is currently the Director of Child and Adolescent Psychodrama Services at Four Winds Psychiatric Hospital in Katonah, New York. Co-founder and co-director, Judy Swallow is a certified family therapist and previously served as the Senior Psychodramatist at Four Winds Hospital. She has had a private practice in Westchester, New York for over thirty years where she practices Rubenfeld Synergy, a body/mind approach to healing. Both Licensed Creative Arts Therapists.
Psychodrama is a therapy method which utilizes dramatic action to examine problems or issues raised by a patient. Psychodrama has been known to facilitate insight, encourage personal growth, and integrate body and mind to increase emotional and physical healing. Hudson Valley Psychodrama Institute frequently offers workshops and seminars on the subject and employs several guest lecturers as well as other psychodramatists.
