Marshall, NC, November 19, 2008 - Horse Sense of the Carolinas hosted their first annual scholarship fundraiser, the Giddy Up Gala, on Saturday, November 8th at the Horse Sense Farm in Marshall, NC. Established in 2004, this Scholarship Fund provides funding opportunities for individuals, families, and youth groups who otherwise cannot afford mental health services to receive therapy at Horse Sense of the Carolinas. All proceeds from this event will go to the Horse Sense Scholarship Fund.
Guests enjoyed an evening of southern-style BBQ, hayrides, and a silent auction. Horse Sense provided demonstrations with horses for guests to learn more about Horse Sense's programs. Michael Cramer and Liza Sapir and friends provided the live bluegrass music.
Cholla, the famous painting horse, donated the "Red Buck" watercolor print to the Silent Auction. Local artists and businesses in the area donated items for the Silent Auction in which Horse Sense was able to raise money for the scholarship fund.
Horse Sense would like to acknowledge the generosity of our corporate donors to this event. The following businesses and artists donated money, goods and services: American Speedy, Apple Valley Family Medicine, Asheville Vision Center, Bacchus Bistro, CFO Consultants, FedEx Office, Jennifer Kelting of Graceland Place Studios, Joye Durham of Gingko Tree Gallery, Lt. Colonel Wheeler, Summit Marketing, and Trinity Episcopal Church.
