In an era of growing demand to achieve and become great at what we do, daily pressures can get to the best of us. We see it more and more on the pages of magazines, in the news, where even the rich and famous succumb to what has been demanded of them. Addiction is an issue that crosses all lines striking people with drug abuse, alcohol abuse, gambling, eating disorders and other life threatening issues.
What was once a shameful thing, to be hidden behind family walls is now a very public, growing epidemic with no social or economic boundaries. Thanks to the brave public figures like presidential First Lady Betty Ford and other industry pioneers there are many treatment options and programs for those individuals struggling in addiction and alcoholism for individuals struggling with addiction issues such as: drug abuse, alcoholism and eating disorders.
Nanette Zumwalt CADC, BRI, Owner and CEO of Hired Power a bi-coastal company says, her Certified Personal Recovery Assistant (CPRA) Program is the next step treatment option "Bringing Recovery Home" building the bridge to lasting recovery.
In light of the available statistics, less than one-third of the addicts who seek addiction treatment, achieve it on their first attempt. Many relapse several times before maintaining recovery or worse succumbing to their addiction. Almost always, the relapse occurs at home, on the job or on the road, despite participating in treatment programs.
After working in the field of addiction for over 20 years, Zumwalt assumed the helm of a company created by a woman with passion and a vision. Deborah, a leading business owner and professional, knew the difficulties of transitioning newly acquired skills into her home and professional life. She had experienced several of the industry's top treatment centers but lacked the ability to return to life and maintain recovery. With the support of a hired professional referred to as a sober companion living in her home she successfully overcame the personal and professional challenges remaining on the road to lasting recovery. To this day Deborah states having this service saved her life. With this vision they dedicated themselves to creating a company that could provide professional Personal Recovery Assistant to others who continued to struggle.
In a statement from Zumwalt," most of Hired Power's clients are high powered, need recovery now, and need it to be confidential." Hired Power collaborates with family members, treatment programs and addiction professionals, not as treatment but as an extension of a treatment plan to be carried out with the assistance of a Certified Personal Recovery Assistant (CPRA). Clients, who benefit most from this service are committed to recovery and/or have lifestyles that are so challenging that they don't have the time and/or ability to seek or maintain recovery.
The key is to be there when the client is experiencing a 'teachable moment' stated Zumwalt. Sometimes this means attending meetings as a business associate or being on the set of a movie production as a friend from out of town. These moments provide a great opportunity to support, guide and mentor clients to apply what they have learned and follow through with their recovery.
Since CPRA's are working one on one with clients, they must be certified by meeting extensive selection criteria such as: extensive background checks, 5 years personal recovery, prior professional recovery experience, continuing education, random drug tests, valid drivers license, and a signed contract of ethical conduct.
To date, Hired Power has worked with hundreds of clients transporting and living with them across the nation and abroad. For treatment providers, families and addicts who are looking to cross the gap between treatment and living in recovery, Hired Power provides the bridge.
