Heritage is pleased to announce the promotion of Alaina Chatterley to Clinical Director of the new Launch Academy, An academy dedicated to preparing students for life beyond a residential treatment center. The Launch Academy provides transitional support for students preparing to live more independently.
Alaina comes to this position with an extensive resume of experience and success. Alaina first worked with teens as a Trailwalker for a wilderness program where she enjoyed the intense connections made with the students and the natural consequences that spoke much louder than "therapy" could.
In 2005 she completed a master's degree and began working at Heritage. In this new role Alaina continued her emphasis on natural consequences and self-directed change. Alaina feels strongly that the long-term nature of Heritage provides an ideal environment for genuine, internal change for teenagers. "At Heritage," stated Alaina, "the students can't fake it. Instead, they have to tap deep within themselves for change that lasts."
Alaina architected Heritage's Culture of Excellence curriculum and facilitated its inaugural classes. She has conducted local parent support groups in various states, is active in industry conferences and supports the business development team. She is well known by many of Heritage's families, school representatives and educational consultants.
"Alaina's clear vision for where she wants to take the Launch Academy, is really exciting, stated Kevin Downs, Heritage's Executive Director. "Her vision fits so well with the Heritage family of academies (Peers and Elevate). She knows what will enable students to transition from their lives in residential treatment to whatever their next step might be."
Alaina grew up in the Phoenix area, with some years spent in Dallas and Boston. Alaina is married and has a daughter and two sons. In her free time she enjoys portrait and wedding photography and working on home improvement projects.
