Alta, the home for latency aged boys, has consistently been at capacity for nearly a year. Due to demand and after an assessment of the ages of students referred to Heritage over the past several years, Heritage has added a second home for boys ages 12-14.

"Parents and consultants have taken notice of the quality of care and service of students on the Alta home, as a result we see an increased in the number of referrals" said Keven Downs, executive director. "We have the most experienced residential staff in residential treatment that the students really connect with. The combination of great staff and younger, more impressionable boys has been a great recipe for success."

Keven also discussed the demand from consultants and families, "The other piece of this is that students are more complex now and are encountering issues at an earlier age." Of boys referred to Heritage since January 2015, the majority were between the ages of 12-14. "We've certainly seen increased demand," Keven continued, "We had a waiting list for some time and we know that parents don't have the luxury of waiting for residential treatment."

The latency-age girl's home at Heritage, Summit South, has also been consistently at or near capacity. The administrative team at Heritage plans to watch the census and referrals to determine if similar changes are necessary on the girl's side. "We don't anticipate opening another home for the girls in the near future but will certainly keep our eye on the trends" said Keven.

"We have two excellent academies for students, Peers and Elevate, so we are pleased that we have the space to provide best-in-class service for more boys and their families."

Both latency age homes, Alta and Cascade South, have capacity of 10 students each. With the exception of the latency age Peers home the Peers Academy currently has a waiting list. (See the matrix below.)
