Offers Camp Program Again This Summer

The Hampshire Country School is pleased to announce they will be offering their Timbertop Camp summer program again this year. Timbertop Camp is open to students of Hampshire Country School and other boys (ages 9-13) who are a good fit for their community. Campers that are appropriate for Timbertop include young boys they might not fit into a large overnight camp, or may struggle with large groups, inflexible schedules and competitive sports. This small summer program offers two sessions of about 18 days each, with both sessions being similar in design, yet will offer different trips and evening activities.

Campers will stay in the same dorms used for the year round program, with 3-4 campers per room, plus two dorm counselors and specialty counselors. This camp program is intentionally small in order to spend more attention to its young campers.

Activities for campers are scheduled in four areas: adventure, athletics, aquatics and arts. Such activities include hiking, animal care, volleyball, fishing, bowling, drama, singing, day trips to Strawberry Banke in Portsmouth and overnight camping. Timbertop campers will also enjoy the use of the three lakes and over 1700 acres of land in which the Hampshire County School is situated on.

Hampshire Country School is a place for boys ages 9-13 with high intellectual potential that has not been realized and with idiosyncrasies that may have become major problems in traditional settings. The school provides an environment in which those problems are no longer as significant, not because they have been "fixed," but because the school's focus is on the bright, active, engaged, and engaging side of each child rather than on his quirks or limitations.
