Two major milestones have been reached in Greenbrier Academy's quest for excellence. First, we have been accepted as associate members of National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP). We are excited about the opportunities that association affords our school and students.
Second, We are moving forward with our educational accreditation process. We are now a Candidate School (a prerequisite for full accreditation) of the National Independent Private Schools Association (NIPSA). We anticipate full accreditation by next year. While our academics are already approved through the West Virginia Department of Education, NIPSA will add another layer of excellence to our college preparatory academics. This will include site visits and reviews of curriculum, facilities, activities, student life and all other aspects of our program. They also provide a great resource for us as we continue to grow and implement new, exciting opportunities for our students (keep your eyes peeled for our next announcement, (we have some big news in our stables).
Also, The initial, provisional license we received from the Department of Health and Human Resources (after passing a rigorous initial inspection, programs only receive a six-month provisional license upon opening) has been upgraded to a full, regular license. Recently, the DHHR completed a thorough three-day inspection of our facility and program and was favorably impressed. The inspector commended us for our commitment to a quality program, and he commented that we were more in compliance than many programs that had been opened much longer. He said we had a lot to be proud of.
Greenbrier Academy continues to grow both in census and in quality. We are never satisfied with our status quo and always ask, "How can we get better." More exciting things are ahoof as summer term approaches; We'll keep you updated.
