Welcomes Mark Parlett

Please join us in welcoming Mark Parlett to the team at Great Lakes Educational Consulting! Mark has over 16 years of experience working with at-risk adolescents and young adults in a variety of settings from wilderness programs to residential treatment facilities. He has served "in the trenches"as a Senior Field Instructor, Staff Supervisor, Program Director and ultimately, as Co-Founder of a non-profit Wilderness Program for adolescents.

In addition to Mark's professional experiences, he has also known therapeutic programming from a very personal standpoint. He attributes much of his success to his parentfs decision to send him to a wilderness therapy program and a boarding school when he was a teenager. Each step in Mark's life and career has fueled his passion to assist young people and continues to inform his judgment as he counsels his clients.

Mark's background also includes serving as a Marine in the first Gulf War. This experience taught him many valuable skills and life lessons. Mark went on to study therapeutic recreation and psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University prior to Co-Founding a non-profit wilderness program in his beloved state of Montana.

When Mark is not working with families or visiting programs, he can be found seeking balance in life by taking advantage of all that Montanafs Big Sky country has to offer. He has been an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Guide and enjoys any and all activities on the river. He is also an avid archery hunter, skier and backpacker. Mark and his wife, Kim, reside in Montana and enjoy many outdoor adventures with their dogs Jack and Annie. 
