As folks in the industry may know, some all-stars in the middle school girls therapeutic boarding school world have been working hard to open up a new program in Western North Carolina. In fact, over 30 educational consultants, program people, and others were able to tour our beautiful campus and meet our "founding daughters" during the recent NATSAP Southeast Regional. Now to share it more broadly, I'd like to announce that Glen Willow Academy has opened its doors!
Glen Willow's mission is to provide a safe environment for girls that encourages family interaction and communication to promote student achievement and a strong sense of self-worth. This includes a comprehensive therapeutic model involving individual and family therapy as well as experiential therapy grounded in equine, group, and adventure modalities. These services surround a traditional, college preparatory academic model and a residential program that emphasizes healthy peer relationships and community stewardship.
Bryan Tomes, previously Academic Director at New Leaf Academy NC, is current Head of School at GWA. Continuing the trend of staff that has been working with this unique and underrepresented group in our industry is Program Director Rebecca "Becca" Jefferies, who has over 7 years' experience managing residential programs for middle school girls. Our Clinical team consists of Amy L. Robichaud, MS, LPC (Hidden Lake, Swift River) and Robert Jacoby, M.S., LPC, NCC. Rob also runs the equine therapy program at GWA. Including our direct care staff, our team has over 30 years' experience with middle school girls programming, and much more within the broader context of therapeutic, residential programming.
Over the years, many of you have come to know us through students and families we have shared. We are excited to finally have the freedom to serve your individual needs at the highest level in a small program, operated by the people who work there and believe in this industry.
Glen Willow's design had its foundations in on our own years of experience with residential, therapeutic schools for young girls. We are excited to provide services to our students and families without constraints.
We look forward to working with you and having you visit our program.
