Dr. Melanie Weis New Four Circles Program Manager

Four Circles Recovery Center, a program for young adults ages 18-28 who are struggling with addiction, substance abuse and co-occurring emotional or behavioral issues, has added a new level of clinical sophistication to its innovative program with the hiring of Dr. Melanie Weis as Program Manager. Dr. Weis holds a Ph.D. in Counseling and is a Licensed Professional Counselor, uncommon distinctions of staff in wilderness-based treatment programs.

Four Circles has made it their mission to be as clinically sophisticated as a residential program, but within a wilderness-based setting. All therapists are licensed master's or doctoral level clinicians who have extensive training and experience dealing with addiction and co-occurring emotional and behavioral issues. By employing a variety of clinical approaches, staff address clients' physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs while helping them build a strong foundation for recovery. Their approach includes individualized treatment planning, individual, group and family therapy, AA/NA meetings, art therapy, martial arts, life skills training, 12 Step meetings, rock climbing, canoeing, and more.

As Program Manager, Dr. Weis will work with Four Circles' skilled team of therapists and staff to plan daily activities, as well as meet with clients individually and facilitate therapy groups.

"I feel privileged to meet with individuals as they confront themselves and begin the journey of becoming who they want to be," said Dr. Weis. "I am passionate about my work because I have witnessed the transformative power of therapeutic interventions."

Prior to joining Four Circles, Dr. Weis was in private practice counseling adults and couples dealing with life transitions, grief and loss, anxiety, depression and addiction. She also has served as a grief counselor in a hospice and as a child and family therapist for a nonprofit behavioral health services organization.

Dr. Weis is a member of the American Counseling Association and the NAACP, has presented on a national level, and believes in "an individual's ability to create meaning in his or her life through a process of self-acceptance... [and] that as people attain a greater awareness of themselves and their interaction with the world, they will be better able to engage the world in ways that are congruent and meaningful to them."

She adds: "My love for this field guided me to obtain my doctorate in counselor education with a concentration in multicultural counseling. I am now fortunate to work with clients in a program that combines traditional treatment and wilderness therapy."
