Ever wish Organic food was cheaper? We all know how much sound nutrition can help support all kinds of issues. But boy can it break the bank! The teens at Fire Mountain, a Residential Treatment Program in Boulder, CO, have figured it out.
With a whopper of a food bill, Fire Mountain's Director (and Life Skills teacher) Aaron Huey, was looking for a way to upgrade his menu for the teens in recovery and teach them a life skill they could use to help their families or save money when on their own.
He wanted a whole foods diet with high quality food without having to increase tuition. On a whim, he watched Extreme Couponing, and was blown away by the savings. Intent on higher quality ingredients, he committed to testing the techniques on healthy and organic foods. Up went a Craigslist ad for a coupon expert and email to TLC with his story.
Long story short, TLC liked the story. You can see the results (spoiler alert: BIG savings at Whole Foods), on Sunday, November 25 at 6:30 EST, 4:30 MST on TLC. Watch the trailer
