Dear Consultants,
As many of you know, The Family Foundation School has been on a steady journey of enhancing our school and program, most recently through the implementation of individualized service planning (impacting length of stay), enhanced academic supports via our Extended Academic Support Services program (directed by a FT certified special education teacher), improved therapeutic services with master's level and licensed therapists (led by Dr. Mark Vogel, who has over 30 years in the field working with adolescents and their families) and even the development of a healthy scholarship fund through our Foundation which has helped so many families during these difficult economic times. Given the many enhancements over recent years, I have attached an updated copy of our Parent Introduction which will better explain all of these changes and the others not mentioned here. However, the real reason for my email is to introduce you to a new program for 18-20 year olds called The Bridge at The Family Foundation School. The Bridge program is an individualized program that extends the transitional opportunities we already provide to our seniors by providing students the opportunity to attend a local community college thereby truly bridging the gap between high school and the college experience. It is not only intended for students who would benefit from academic and recovery support as they transition to college but also for those students who have begun college but who were not successful. Attached please find a detailed description of this new 5th year senior or PG program. You will also find, through the link below or through the link or QR code on the flyer, that The Bridge program is up and running with 6 students already who are actively posting their experiences in a blog on The Bridge web-site.
Finally, last year we revised our school calendar and created a 6 week Summer School Enrichment program. Many of you expressed interest in this and asked me to keep you posted. It was a positive experience for our students and thus, we are continuing it again this year. I will be sending additional information about it in the coming weeks, but it may be an opportunity for students who are discharging from programs in June and parents need just a summer program to close the gap until they start back at school in mid-August or early September. As I said, I'll be sending more specific information about this in the coming weeks but wanted you to know that we do plan on having it available.
Please contact me with any questions you may have. As always, thanks for all you do for families and for your support of the work we do. It's a pleasure partnering with you.
Best regards,
Jeff Brain
