Family Support Collaborative is pleased to announce that Dr. Dan Villiers, Ph.D. has joined the FSC team as Director of Clinical Assessment and Intervention.

Dr. Villiers is the founder of Mountain Valley Treatment Center, the first non-hospital residential program for the treatment of adolescent anxiety in the U.S., where he has also served as the Director of Admissions for the past 3 years. From this experience, he created a successful in-home intervention model which he describes as an approach that seeks to "Assess, Educate, and Motivate even the most isolated, fearful and resistant teenager to treatment."

A native of London, England, Dan is a graduate of Kenyon College, received Masters' Degrees from Kent State University and Dartmouth College, and earned a Combined Ph.D. in Counseling and School Psychology from Northeastern University. Dan has appeared on radio and TV, presented at conferences and universities across the country, and is the author of numerous articles related to child mental health.

"I am very excited to be joining an organization of small non-profits, each of which provide something unique and needed; where clinical accountability, specialization, and best practices are pursued with collaborative vigor," said Dan of his new FSC appointment. "Through the personalized clinical and intervention services we can provide within the FSC model, I look forward to partnering with referring professionals in assessing, educating, and motivating adolescents and their families to get the help that they need."

As Director of Clinical Assessment and Intervention, Dan will provide support to FSC partner programs, offering home-based, Skype or phone assessments to prospective families and adolescents to assist with possible program placement. Dan will also continue to work with educational consultants, clinical professionals, and other referral sources to support communication regarding potential admissions between referral sources, external clinical teams, and each program. Dan may be reached at: dvilliers@familysupportcollaborative.org.
