Expedition Therapy proudly announces the addition of Brian Daniels, PsyD as Primary Therapist.
"We are thrilled to have Brian as part of the Expedition Therapy team," said Beth J. Fogel, Creative Strategist. "His background, experience and commitment make him an extremely valuable resource for us, for our students, and for their families."
Brian earned a PsyD and an MA in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, an MS in Child Development from the Erikson Institute, and a BA in Psychology from Indiana University.
Brian has experience working with children, adolescents and adults, and is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. He has six years' experience in residential treatment centers, in roles including Program Supervisor and Wilderness Program Development. He has conducted individual, family, and group therapy as well as comprehensive psychological testing.
"I strongly value the relationship built during therapy and appreciate Expedition Therapy's integrative treatment focus and relational emphasis," stated Brian. "This approach supports critical examination of how to best treat clients with attention to the systemic context in which they live. I am excited to become a part of Expedition Therapy's team-focused culture, with its highly talented group of multidisciplinary professionals working together to achieve positive outcomes for our young adult students."
"I have strong interests in wilderness therapy," added Brian. "My dissertation, Adolescent Subjective Experience of Wilderness Therapy: A Phenomenological Approach, focused on meaning-making and experiential process of teenagers in wilderness therapy programs. The research has provided new information critical to best practice for the clinical treatment of youth in such programs. My findings will be presented at the Outdoor Behavioral Heath Council's Wilderness Therapy Symposium in Utah in late August 2014."
