Expedition Therapy proudly announces the addition of R. Michael Peyton as Primary Therapist.

"We are thrilled to have Mike as part of the Expedition Therapy team," said Beth Fogel, CEO. "His breadth and depth of clinical experience in a wide variety of therapeutic settings makes him an extremely valuable resource for us, for our students, and for their families."

Mike received a B.S. Degree in Psychology, followed by a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, both from Michigan State University. He has been designated as an Approved Supervisor for the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, training new therapists in their profession. Mike's clinical foundation includes strategic family therapy formulated by Jay Haley and Cloe Madanes. He draws from twenty years of working with parents and their children, in addition to his twenty-seven years of experience as a husband and co-parent of five children, to bring relief to his clients, identifying the core values and needs of family members.

"Conflicts dividing important relationships are the result of many different variables in family systems," stated Mike. "Addiction, out-of-control emotions and misbehavior are symptoms of either intrapersonal or interpersonal distress. Figuring out their interplay is essential to creating solutions."

"Teaching students that healthy living leads to healthy living is best done in the type of experiential setting provided by Expedition Therapy," added Mike. "Students are reminded of what really matters the most: love for family and love for self. Removing the confusion and noise of modern life long enough to think and feel clearly is vital for restoration to occur, equipping both students and parents with tools to problem solve, Expedition Therapy is a powerful step in restoring these bonds, so that young adults gain appreciation, autonomy and self respect."

To refer a student or for additional information, contact Jason York, Director of Admissions by phone at 435-879-9015 or by email at expeditiontherapyjason@gmail.com.

Expedition Therapy is a structured, intensive, hands-on, experiential, solution-focused experience that unfolds in the etched mountain pathways, brilliantly carved canyons, and striking topography of the desert southwest. The Expedition Therapy Team specializes in working with emerging young adults age 18+ who have yet to find a productive and intentional path in life. At Expedition Therapy, students learn organizational and time management skills, as well as how to plan and lead an expedition step by step, from route finding to follow through. These skills are readily transferable to whatever happens next. The Expedition Therapy Team takes pride in the process of engagement and relationship building, providing unconditional acceptance in a culturally diverse setting. Our Therapeutic Expedition Mentality® is an empowering option for adults who want to learn how to create a balance in their lives, stay sober, and reconnect with their authentic selves. At Expedition Therapy, we help young adults discover the inner focus, direction and motivation they need to move themselves forward in their lives.
