Wins Non-Profit Award

The Eckerd Development/External Relations team is thrilled to announce that Eckerd Youth Alternatives has been named 2010 Nonprofit Business of the Year! Sponsored by the Tampa Bay Business Journal, this prestigious award was announced yesterday at a luncheon to honor an elite group of finalists in seven distinct categories.

Eckerd surpassed more than 250 Tampa Bay nonprofits vying for this award - a record-breaking number according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal. This was the Journals' fifth year recognizing local nonprofit organizations that are making a difference in the greater Tampa Bay area each day.

After winning top honors in the Health and Human Services category, Eckerd took home the esteemed 2010 Nonprofit Business of the Year Award and a prize package, which includes a full-page color advertisement in the Tampa Bay Business Journal; technology package; office supplies; six months of advertising on Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) buses; and a check in the amount of $2500.

After the award ceremony, an award judge made it a point to stop by Eckerd's table to comment on the strength of Eckerd's award application and how impressed he was with the growth and transformation efforts that are enabling us to continue Jack Eckerd's vision of giving every child the opportunity to succeed.
