Eckerd Academy of the Blue Ridge, located about 90 minutes north of Atlanta in Suches, will offer an eight-week Therapeutic Summer Academics and Adventure Camp emphasizing academic credit recovery and personal growth through outdoor adventures. The residential camp is ideally suited for boys and girls ages 13 - 18 needing credit recovery in math, science, or English, or those who are seeking to get ahead over the summer. Campers will have the opportunity to earn one core academic credit and an additional Physical Education credit. In addition, they will also receive guidance in developing better communication, problem solving, social and relationship building skills.
Two eight-week sessions are being offered, June 6 - July 29 and June 26 - August 18, and will feature a blend of academics and outdoor adventures to provide a unique summer learning experience. Youth will participate in Eckerd Academy's outdoor adventure programming, including ropes courses, fishing, hiking and backpacking in the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains that surround the campus. Using group discussions, journaling and one-on-one discussions, students will have a great opportunity for self-discovery and growth.
