EDGE Collegiate and OMNI Youth Services present an informative workshop for counselors, teachers and therapists from industry experts Dr. Michael A Gass and Dr. Christine Norton.

The first workshop, Experiential Therapy: Brain-Based Approaches to Working with Clients, will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 9:00am-4:30pm. The purpose of this workshop is to examine brain-based approaches to working effectively with clients. This workshop will explore basic neurobiology related to attachment and the therapeutic relationship, as well as the impact of experiential, integrative activities on the brain. This workshop will also review neurobiological dysregulations that negatively impact clients and provide a theoretical rationale and basic skills for utilizing experiential, brain-based activities with clients to promote healing in these areas. The use of lecture, video, and experiential activities, including mindfulness-based practice will be used in this workshop. Michael A. Gass, PhD, LMFT will present the information.

The second workshop, 101 Experiential Techniques for Counselors and Therapists, will be on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 9:00am - 4:30pm. Presented by Dr. Christine Norton, LMFT, the purpose of this workshop is to provide informative methods of enriching therapeutic technique through the use of experiential methodology. Rather than just "talking the talk" part of therapy, this workshop will provide methods of "walking the talk" to enrich therapeutic techniques and assist clients in reaching their therapeutic objectives more effectively. Along with the experiential learning and reflection on these methods will be the theoretical background, rationale, models, case studies, and contraindications for such techniques. Participants will leave the workshop with techniques they can use in their next client session.

This conference will take place at OMNI Youth Services, 1111 W. Lake Cook Road, Buffalo Grove, IL. There will be a break for lunch from 12:30-1:30 (on your own) and Coffee and Tea provided. Cost of this workshop is $99 each day, $119 after April 1, or $175 for both days. CEUs will be available: 6 CEUs (Illinois Social Work, IAODAPCA).
