Guests from throughout North America and the Bermuda Islands recently attended an open house for Discovery Academy's new academic center. The $3-million dollar facility is an expansion of the school's campus located in Provo, Utah.
Discovery Academy is a therapeutic boarding school with separate programs for boys and girls ages 13-17.
"The academic center was specifically designed and built for our program," Executive Director Brent Hall told attendees. "We're thrilled with our new facility, but it's our people and our program that really make the difference in our students' lives."
Discovery Academy uses an experiential model for academic, therapeutic and residential activities. As students and staff share these activities, students develop relationships which inspire them to discover their unique abilities.
During the open house, guests toured the new theater arts center, science lab, library, and girls' dormitory. They also got a first hand look at the academic center's new classrooms, cafeteria, exercise room and gaming area.
Founded in 1989, Discovery Academy has been part of the RedCliff Ascent group since 2003. The Academy's boys program serves 50 students. The girls program serves 32 girls.
