Crotched Mountain School

The Crotched Mountain School is co-educational, serving children and young adults (ages 5-22) with one or more developmental and acquired disabilities. These include, but are not limited to anxiety disorder, ADD, Asperger’s Syndrome, autism, brain injury, cerebral palsy, eating disorders, deafness, emotional disorders, medically fragile conditions, mental retardation, neurological impairments, personality disorder, PDD, seizure disorder, speech and language impairments, spina bifida, spinal cord injury and or visual impairment. Severe behavioral issues are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Crotched Mountain School offers children the chance to learn and grow at their own pace, and at their own level, from mastery of daily living skills through their high school diploma. Each child’s educational program is individualized, and support is available from multiple therapy and medical professionals. Parents and guardians are intimately involved in planning their child’s educational, social and developmental goals.

The educational program features a K-12 curriculum that addresses all learning levels and learning styles. The staff to student is low in both the educational and residential parts of the program. Staff includes teachers, therapists and health professionals who have “many years of experience working with special needs children.” The campus includes a Medicaid-certified skilled nursing facility for children with medical needs, modern student residences, a health center, media center and aquatics center featuring a therapy pool. Crotched Mountain School is licensed by the State of New Hampshire and agencies in many other states, and is CARF and NEASC accredited.
