Dr. Andrew Sapp, Founder & President of Cherry Gulch, was honored by the Idaho Business Review as one of Idaho's 40 top professionals under 40. The 40 young professionals selected represent a generation that is already shaping our state, our image and our expectations. They are outstanding achievers and leaders in their community and their chosen field. Jeanne Huff, IBR Special Sections Editor writes "While many are still rocked to the core by these desperate times, I keep thinking of that Nietzcshe quote: "That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger". Meet 40 strong professionals, kissed by success, undaunted by the troubling economic times of the past several years and in many cases, fueled by them. They are young, strong in spirit, heads up, shoulders back, ready to meet challenges. They are teachers, doctors, lawyers, directors, managers, presidents. They enforce the law and put the bad guys behind bars. Meet these 40 strong professionals, read their stories in these pages. You will be amazed, inspired and proud. And while they come from all walks of life, there are common threads: They are leaders. They have integrity. They work hard. They are passionate. Here is the 2011 class of the Idaho Business Review's Accomplished Under 40, stronger than ever."
Dr. Sapp & Cherry Gulch continue to accumulate accolades for the great work they are doing with the students and families they work with. In 2010, Cherry Gulch was selected by the Idaho Psychological Association at the overall winner of their Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award. For the last four years they have been selected by Woodbury Reports for "Excellence in Education". Their chess team has been State Champions four years in a row in the novice division and their students have earned awards in judo, BMX, fishing, art (4H), and etiquette. They have demonstrated a spirit of volunteerism and enjoyed competing in Team America Rocketry Challenge and FIRST Lego Robotics League. Cherry Gulch is also one of the top five private employers in the county with a team of 57 dedicated men and women. Dr. Sapp is grateful for all the people who have helped make Cherry Gulch a success. He said, "no one accomplishes anything really worthwhile or enduring alone there are so many people who have helped me reach my goals and have put their finger prints all over Cherry Gulch making it much better than I could have and without such an amazing group of people we could not do the great work we are doing. Together we are working on something that is greater than ourselves and will hopefully outlast all of the people who are currently involved".
Cherry Gulch is a ranch-style, therapeutic boarding school designed specifically for 10 -14 year old boys. Cherry Gulch's supportive, encouraging and respect-based approach is designed to build students up-rather than tear them down. Cherry Gulch is passionate about providing early intervention and prevention to help boys reach their full potential and become well-rounded, pro-social young men. We are dedicated to providing outstanding therapeutic and academic services to students and their families. This is accomplished in the context of a safe environment working toward "Building Brighter Tomorrows for the Boys of Today."
