We are excited to welcome our newest therapist to the CCBS team.

Jacob Hafkin comes to Cherokee Creek as a 2013 graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Social Work. At UNC he obtained certificates in Substance Abuse Counseling and School Social Work in addition to his MSW. Prior to joining the CCBS team he has worked in a therapeutic capacity in both the public school and juvenile justice systems. Jacob was born and raised in Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC. Upon graduation he was excited to head west to the Rocky Mountains and attend the University of Colorado at Boulder. In between mountain biking, rock climbing, and snowboarding trips, Jacob obtained his bachelor's degree in Psychology. After college he moved to Chilean Patagonia, completing a year of study with the National Outdoor Leadership School. It was there that he learned about wilderness therapy and experiential education. Within six months Jacob had moved back to the United States, relocated to Asheville, and began work as a field instructor. After progressing to the position of Lead Instructor he was ready for the next challenge: A two and a half year stint with the Peace Corps as a Youth Development Volunteer in Belize, Central America. Now that he is back in the US, he and his dog Moses, a Belizean born Coonhound, can be found trail running, camping, reading, or chewing on a stick.

"I couldn't be more excited to become part of the CCBS family. I have always believed in the restorative power of nature, especially for young men. The opportunity to work with your son as he begins his journey into manhood is an honor that I do not take lightly. I try to "walk my talk", and as I expect a young man to strive towards toward becoming a better version of himself, I will do the same. I look forward to being a positive force in your child's life and working through tough issues, as well as doing a lot of laughing and having a lot of fun!"

Sincerely,

David LePere
Executive Director
