Chaddock, located in Quincy, Illinois is the recipient of the "Agency of the Year" award presented by the Alliance for Children and Families.

Chaddock was chosen to receive the award because of its demonstrated excellence in board participation and support; impact of advocacy efforts on local, state, or national levels; and innovative programs. Representatives of Chaddock, including Debbie Reed, President/CEO; Matt Obert, Director of Quality Assurance; and Jeff VanCamp, Director of Development accepted the award recently at the Alliance National Conference in Houston.

"The Alliance and our 370 members benefit from having Chaddock in this network of nonprofit human service providers," said Peter B. Goldberg, president and CEO of the Alliance. "They have proven to be innovative and cutting-edge in living their mission each day."

"Chaddock responds to the needs of children and families," stated Debbie Reed, Chaddock President/CEO. "If what we're doing isn't working, we find something that will. And we have. This is demonstrated by the fact that children and their families from 23 states and one tribal nation have come to Quincy, Illinois for specialized care. Chaddock has been serving the needs of those who have fallen through the cracks from the Quincy community and beyond for more than 156 years. I firmly believe that we as an agency have been able to reach new heights by standing on the shoulders of those who came before us, and by staying true to the spirit and values that have served as Chaddock's foundation."

Planning for construction of a new residential cottage solidified an already strong relationship between Chaddock and its board of directors. Board members partnered with staff throughout the process, making corporate, foundation, and political connections, while seeking funding to underwrite the cost of the cottage.

Chaddock's wide range of niche programming for children and families struggling with developmental trauma and attachment issues continues to garner much-deserved accolades, including a multiyear $1.6 million federal grant as part of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network.

Chaddock's knowledge and success with incorporating trauma-based treatment into residential and orphanage settings has led to an increased number of requests from Europe, Asia and Australia for specialized training and consultation through The Knowledge Center at Chaddock.

The Milwaukee-based Alliance for Children and Families, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2011, is a national membership association of nonprofit human service providers in the United States and Canada. Motivated by a vision of a healthy society and strong communities, the Alliance strengthens the capacities of North America's nonprofit child-and family-serving organizations to serve and to advocate for children, families, and communities. The more than 370 members of the Alliance provide an array of community-based programs and services to all generations, serving close to 3.4 million people each year.
