For the ninth straight year, students from Copper Canyon Academy attended National Portfolio Day (NPD) in Phoenix. NPD is an annual college fair that affords budding art majors the opportunity to show their art portfolios to representatives of art colleges from around the country. The trip was led by Academic Director Ken Buxton and art teacher Bev Miller, and seven CCA students participated.

At NPD this year, approximately thirty art colleges were in attendance giving expert feedback and guidance to hundreds of art students. This can be an empowering experience for our girls to realize that they qualify for a professional visual arts program. Moreover, it can represent a key step in a student's application process: at NPD in the past many CCA students' portfolios have been assessed and accepted on the spot as having met the college's portfolio/visual requirement for admission. Largely because of NPD, former CCA students are currently attending such art schools as the Savannah College of Art & Design, Brooks Institute, Ringling College of Art & Design, Kansas City Art Institute, Cornish College of the Arts, and the Laguna College of Art & Design.
