CALO announced today that Dr. Ken Huey will retire as SVP of Marketing effective June 1, 2015. Huey will continue to serve the company past that date as an advisor, and will represent Calo in speaking events.

CALO was founded in 2007 by Huey and co-founders Landon Kirk and Nicole Fuglsang. They saw a specific gap in residential treatment and created the company to address that need. CALO now serves adopted teens and preteens in three separate programs and has nearly 200 employees.

"Eight years ago Ken gathered a team of amazing individuals and launched a very unique program focused specifically on adopted teens and preteens with accompanying developmental trauma." said Board Chairman and CEO Alex Stavros. "That team overcame a down economy and created world class treatment for what Ken, himself an adoptee, sees as his own people: young adoptees who need help. We are grateful for Ken's leadership and wish him continued success in his new personal and professional endeavors."

"After over eight years building and growing CALO, I am leaving with a tremendous sense of pride at what the program has accomplished," said Huey. "This timeframe fits my family's needs and our window of opportunity to move to a new location. I expect to take the next 12 months to finish a book, a long time dream of mine, and then decide other plans. Although I am sad to say goodbye to very close friends and colleagues, I am confident in CALO's future as I am leaving it with the highest caliber team it has ever had. I also take comfort knowing that CALO will continue to be a part of my life for years to come."

Stavros will continue in his role as Chairman of the Board and CEO of all CALO programs. Co-founderLandon Kirk became CEO of CALO's flagship Teen program earlier this year. "Ken's friendship means more to me than I can express," said Kirk. "The incredible program he helped create has matured, and the entire leadership team agrees that he can take a step back now. We look forward to his future involvement as a trusted advisor and industry expert."
