CALO is very happy to announce the hiring of Liz Burroughs as Admissions Director of our new Preteen program. Our Preteen program (www.calopreteens.com) opens in October of this year and will serve mostly adopted 10, 11, and 12 year-olds with a trauma history.
Liz brings to CALO a background that is ideal for her new assignment as Director of Admissions for the Preteen program. For the previous 6 years, Liz has worked as an educational consultant, specializing in therapeutic placements across the country for preteens, adolescents, and young adults. As a principal of Ike & Burroughs, Educational Consultants, in Cincinnati, OH, she worked with more than 120 families, helping them select the right program and monitoring the client's progress through the program. Prior to joining Ike & Burroughs, Liz worked as a local education consultant for the Affinity Center, a non-profit center that specialized in working with ADHD children and adults. As the education consultant, she was a liaison with the Center and local schools, advocating for clients and educating teachers on how to best work with students diagnosed with ADD and ADHD.
Over the years, Liz has worked in a variety of education and marketing positions. She spent a number of years as an English teacher in West Caldwell, NJ, and Cincinnati, OH. She was a marketing executive for businesses in Los Angeles and New York City.
Liz joins her husband at CALO, Academic Director Bob Burroughs. She is the adoptive mother of two sons from Bogota, Colombia.
CALO provides specialized therapy for teens struggling with trauma, attachment disorder, or mood regulation issues.
