This new individualized program, offered through Family Foundation School, is for young adults, ages 18-20, that extends the transitional opportunities for seniors who need academic and recovery support as they transition to college and for those students who have started college, but were not successful. This 5th year program allows students to attend a local community college at a nearby campus, in addition to securing a work study position of employment at the school in order to gain job skills. This program is for those students who are struggling with academic performances and needing transcript rebuilding (improving SAT scores, portfolio and audition preparations), in addition to needing independent living skills, social skills and continuing therapeutic support.

Family Foundation School was founded in 1979 by Tom and Betty Argiros and in now overseen by their son, Mike Argiros, Executive Director and Director of Campus. Rita Argiros, PhD, is the Program Director, Ann Janauer, PhD, is the Dean of Students and Gerald Janauer, PhD is the Academic Dean. Licensure and accreditation is through The Joint Commission, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools; the New York Board of Regents and approved by SEVIS. College courses are offered through Broome Community College- a member of the State University of New York.

This program is divided into two phases: the first phase includes students taking three college courses at the FFS campus, in addition to counseling, Living Skills and 12 step studies. In the second phase, students take four college courses on the Broome campus and work with a life coach, who transports students to and from campus and provides support to the students on both campuses, offers therapeutic support and helps the student stay on track. Within this second phase, students also have the opportunity to live in the community near the college and receive independent transitional living support. Each student is assigned an academic coordinator who tracks the student's academic progress and works individually with the students to gain good study habits and time management skills. For those needing remedial help, FFS offers Extended Academic Services, a one on one staff and peer tutoring in specific academic subjects.
