Boulder Creek Academy announces the promotion of two valued faculty members and the addition of several new hires.

A Director of Special Education position has been created at the academy to expand academic remediation services for students. Academic Director Claude Bisson, M.Ed., who holds a Master's degree and undergraduate degree in special education from Keen State College and has nearly 30 years of special education experience, will take on this new role and pass the academic director reigns to longtime English teacher, Valerie Thompson.

Valerie Thompson, M.Ed., has taught at Boulder Creek Academy for more than 17 years and has been the academy's lead teacher for a number of those years. Thompson holds a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Idaho.

Boulder Creek is further expanding their staff team with the addition of a language lab facilitator, an English teacher, a social studies teacher, and a student life team manager.

"It is an exciting time at Boulder Creek Academy. We are growing and that allows us to promote highly qualified staff members and add talented individuals to our team. Our goal is to recruit and retain the best of the best. Our team is enthusiastic and committed to the work we do on behalf of our students," explained Boulder Creek Academy Chief Executive Officer Dr. Adam McLain.

Boulder Creek Academy is a therapeutic boarding school that features a state-approved special education program. The academy specializes in working with adolescents 13 to 18 years of age who are struggling with social development, academic, processing, mental health and behavioral issues. Students learn to embrace their challenges and to tap into areas of strength. The curriculum integrates academic and therapeutic learning with social development opportunities, adventure activities, leadership experiences, and service learning. The campus is situated on 180-acres at the base of the Cabinet Mountains in northern Idaho. Students are accepted for enrollment year-round.
