Blueprint Education, a nonprofit educational organization, has partnered with Gables Academy in Stone Mountain, Georgia, to provide accredited curriculum to their student population.
This new partnership will help provide more of a flexible curriculum to those students with special learning needs who have had little success in other educational and/or academic settings. Gables Academy (which is 20 minutes east of Atlanta) is set in a private, rural school setting catering to between 20 - 25 students. Dr. James Meffen III, Headmaster, was looking for an accredited curriculum that was flexible enough to meet the wide range of learning needs that his students have.
"I instantly felt at peace at this comfortable, tranquil learning environment," states Brenda Baer, Distance Learning Director at Blueprint. "It is apparent that the entire staff has a 'think outside of the box' mentality, which is essential when working with struggling students."
The Gables program is designed to meet two specific needs. One emphasis is that of basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics, stressing the necessary academic requisites for success in academic, vocational, or career pursuits. The second approach tends to the needs of the child or adolescent who has mastered the basic skills, but appears unmotivated to learn in a typical learning environment. Blueprint believes that all students are capable of success - NO EXCEPTIONS. Upon arrival at Gables Academy the welcome sign says: Every Child Can Succeed. Looks like a match made in educational heaven.
