Berkshire Hills Music Academy is a private post-secondary residential school featuring three distinct programs: the two-year Certificate Program, Music in Careers (MIC) program and a summer program for young adult's ages 18-30 years old with learning, cognitive or developmental disabilities and a special talent for music. Berkshire Hills Music Academy was founded and incorporated in 1999 and opened its doors in 2001.

The Executive Director is Ljuba Marsh, MEd from Cambridge College, who co-founded the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School and is licensed as a Superintendent of Schools at all grade levels. Director of Academic Programs is Thomas Gajewski, Director of Music Programs is Hillarie O'Toole and Director of Vocational Programs is Karen Carreira.

Students who are enrolled in the two year program will gain independent living skills through hands on instruction with courses that include: time management, interpersonal skills, banking, shopping and budgeting, personal care and physical education. The students increase their musical abilities in an academic setting with a curriculum that includes classes in music appreciation, practice skills, music for relaxation, professional sound and recording equipment, performance track and field work and Music and Human service track courses and field work. Students have two private lessons each week in voice, instrument of choice or dance, and all the students participate in the school chorus and specialized instrumental and vocal groups. The Two-Year Program leads to a Certificate of Completion with a concentration in Music Performance or Music and Human Service.

The Music in Careers Program (MIC) is a one-year vocational and life skills course open only to graduates of the Academy's two-year program, with the main goals of improving performance skills, independent living skills and continuing to acquire skills to gain employment in jobs with music content.

The students participate in personal fitness, organized team sports and individual Special Olympic events including soccer, downhill skiing, bowling and basketball.
