Dear families, friends and colleagues of Benchmark Transitions,

Thank you all for your support and concerns regarding today's shooting incident in nearby San Bernardino. Our primary goal today was to ensure the safety and well-being of our clients and staff members.

Please be assured that the clients and staff are accounted for and secure. In March of 2015, Benchmark implemented our Emergency Management Plan. The EMP was developed by Rod Walters, our Emergency Management Specialist and has been implemented corporate wide by Rod and Darren Longnecker, our Chief Information Officer. Rod is a retired Redlands Police Officer, with direct access to the police reports and updates, and has been updating the executive team. Darren is a retired San Bernardino police officer who was also in communications with police updates. Both Rod and Darren were in communications with the implementation of today's emergency protocol . Upon hearing the reports, we immediately implemented locked doors at the Ed Center and restricted client activities, including off-site fitness activities.

Clients are now secure in their residences with 24/7 staff supervision and support in the residential facilities. We're also checking on our off property ILS clients.

Reports are showing that the shootings were about 5-7 miles from our facilities. The house in Redlands that has been under investigation is approximately two miles away from both the Ed Center and our apartments. Our apartment facilities are in secure, locked and gated complexes. Reports indicate that the apartment in Redlands has been secured and police are starting to clear the area.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this tragedy and their families - especially to our therapist, Linda Lucas, who's cousin's daughter, Denise, was shot and seriously injured in today's shootings. Our Admissions & Intake Coordinator, Larry Aragon, attended to his wife, Leah, who was working in an office near the shootings and was lead to safety by SWAT officers.

We will keep you posted if there are any other updates. Please let us know if we can provide you with any other updates or answer any questions.

Take care,
The Benchmark Transitions Executive Team
