Rethink Autism today announced their partnership with Autism Speaks to deliver two free, live webinars entitled "What You Need to Know, an orientation for parents and family members of children recently diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder." This is the first collaboration between Autism Speaks, an autism advocacy group, and Rethink Autism, an innovative online autism treatment platform, to help families bridge the critical time gap from the point of diagnosis to the beginning of treatment.
Research shows that early intervention in children with autism leads to the most substantial developmental gains. "From the moment a family receives an autism diagnosis, parents are faced with many challenges, such as finding the right treatment, locating providers, and figuring out what will work for their child," says Jamie Pagliaro, Executive Vice President of Rethink Autism. "With this webinar, we will bring parents the information they need to make informed treatment decisions for their children as soon as possible."
Dr. Bridget A. Taylor, Rethink Autism's Senior Clinical Advisor, will present an overview of the most effective educational interventions for autism and give practical advice on jump-starting treatment for newly diagnosed children. Lisa Goring, Director of Family Services at Autism Speaks, will share resources for newly diagnosed families and information on how to maximize their quality of life.
Webinar registration is free at
www.rethinkautism.com. Parents can communicate directly with Dr. Taylor and Mrs. Goring during the December 9 and December 15 webinars.
