On April 30, 2011 the Auldern Academy Run Club participated in their first 5k run: Run for Our Heroes. The girls had a wonderful time and were part of a community event dedicated to helping the families of our local police department. The girls not only ran in the race, but also participate in the concurrent food drive. Each student brought a non-perishable food item which was donated to the local food shelter.

Established by Sarah Belcher, the Director of Student Life, the Run Club meets twice a week for two hours to work out as a group. Additionally, students run in the early mornings and evenings as their schedules permit. They have a set a goal to participate in another run during the summer months.

Run for Our Heroes was formed in conjunction with the National Peace Officer Memorial Week. It is a week where police departments nationwide host events to raise funds for the families of officers who are slain in the line of duty. Proceeds of this race are donated to the Raleigh Police Memorial Foundation for local families. The Auldern Run Club was proud to be part of this run where they joined with others to show their support and appreciations to the people who help keep our communities safe.

Auldern Academy is a therapeutic boarding school in North Carolina serving young women grades 8-12. Auldern is owned and operated by Sequel Youth and Family Services.
