Aspiro provides dynamic and clinically advanced outdoor behavioral health services for adolescent girls. Our pioneering adventure programming provides unmatched opportunities for building empowerment, relationships, skills, goals, motivation and healthy self-concept.

"Young females in our society are facing extremely complex challenges as they mature into adulthood. The social, academic and media pressures on young women are tremendous. Unhealthy and even dangerous distractions abound. Jason Capel is so passionate about helping his clients challenge themselves and realize their potential. He has the right combination of experience, professionalism and passion for leading our girls programming and facilitating our powerful adventure therapy interventions for girls. His experience and expertise with young women along with Jessica Williamson's passion for working with girls who have mood, body image and eating issues creates a powerful therapeutic team for our girls." said Gordon L. Day, Ph.D., Aspiro Executive Director.

Jason completed his undergraduate work at the University of Utah with Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Physiology in 1989. While there, he worked as a research assistant in the areas of human sexuality and memory working with both human and animal subjects. Before attending graduate school, Jason worked in psychiatric inpatient and intensive outpatient settings with both adults and adolescents with a wide variety of presenting problems. He completed his Master of Social Work degree in 1995 at the University of Utah with special emphasis on child, adolescent and family behavioral health. He completed a social work residency at primary children's medical center working with both victims of sexual abuse and sexually reactive children.

Jason spent the next two years working with at-risk children and adolescents in foster care and group home settings. He spent the next ten years working with adolescents and their family's in residential treatment settings which provided rich opportunities to learn and grow as a clinician treating the dynamic and complex problems our children experience today. He has extensive experience and training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and has developed adolescent DBT programs in residential treatment centers and wilderness therapy programs. He has specialized in the treatment of suicide, self-injurious behavior, trauma, eating disorders, mood disorders, and substance abuse using empirically supported therapies.

Along with his enthusiasm, he has a wonderful ability as an experienced clinician to be able to assess and intervene in ways that elicit strong rapport with residents and their families.

Join us in welcoming Jason to our team!
