Alpine Academy is thrilled to announce the return of one of our former Associate Family Teachers as the new Academic Guidance Counselor, Samantha Scheuerman.

Samantha began her career with Utah Youth Village as an Associate Family Teacher at Alpine Academy in 2007. It was at this time she discovered her passion for being an instrument of change in the lives of young people. She worked to build relationships with the girls on campus and witnessed first-hand their transformations into more healthy and confident people. Samantha also worked in the group home setting at Alpine for four years before transitioning to the Families First program. Here she provided intensive in-home behavioral interventions with families along the Wasatch front. Having the opportunity to work with families in their homes, Samantha was able to teach invaluable parenting and behavioral skills in order to keep children from being removed or to improve the behaviors in the home and decrease crisis. After one year as a Behavioral Specialist, she became a Coordinator, supervising a team of Behavioral Specialists for an additional two years, as well as continuing to work with families and training new Specialists. In 2014, Samantha became the Alpine Academy School Guidance Counselor, where she assists in scheduling and college/career planning. Her outlook on her work here is both positive and inspiring: "Everyone has within them the ability to be successful and to flourish. I am so fortunate to be on this journey with the girls at Alpine Academy."

Samantha received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of Utah, and she is currently completing a Master's Degree of Science in School Counseling. Samantha is also six-times certified in the Teaching-Family Model.

Originally from Georgia, Samantha has grown up in the wonderful state of Utah, which is home to her favorite activities; she loves backpacking in the desert and snowboarding in the beautiful mountains. She is an avid marathon and trail runner, as well as a volleyball enthusiast. Samantha was married to her husband Josh in 2011, and together they have an obsession for travel and exploring new cities.

Alpine Academy offers family-based residential treatment that is uniquely successful at helping teenage girls learn the skills to succeed at home, in school, and with their own families. Alpine is a part of Utah Youth Village, one of Utah's oldest and largest charities providing treatment to children and families in crisis.
