Who we are:
Aloft Transitions and Therapeutic Gap Year is a residential, life transition program for young adults 18 to 30 years old. Our clients participate in a therapeutic milieu centered on preparing for a rewarding young adult life through life skills coaching, career training and internship, and educational mentoring. Aloft sets itself apart by providing low ratio, high intensity mentoring, and frequent clinical counseling, combined with daily, extended opportunities for independent young adult career and educational pursuits.

New at Aloft:

We are welcoming a new therapist, Angela Baird-Hepworth, LPC. Angela is working on her Doctorate in General Psychology. Angela's personal experience with adoption has led to her passion and budding expertise in attachment and abandonment issues. She comes to us from an intensive experience working with Attachment Disordered youth in juvenile corrections. Angela helped to start an attachment-focused program at the facility that has become a statewide attractor. Angela's passion for therapy, and attachment work specifically, will continue with our residents at Aloft and in her doctorate work. Angela is well-traveled, having grown up in many areas of the United States, including Washington, Arizona, Kentucky and Long Island, New York. She moved here in 2012 from Phoenix, Arizona. She is a loving step-mom to two girls and a mom of two dogs and a cat. She loves boxing, reading, writing, white water rafting, traveling, and spending time with family.

We are also welcoming Juan Lexus, ACADC, M.S. Juan come to us with 20+ years of experience working with addiction. Juan will be working with our young adults on process addictions, co-dependency, and substance abuse.

12 Things you might not know about Aloft:
  1. Aloft uses a mentorship model. This means that at every decision point throughout our young adults' day, we are guiding our clients through how to make positive and productive young adult decisions.
  2. 3:1 Client to Mentor ratio, the lowest ratio of any young adult program with our level young adult opportunities.
  3. Each young adult is assigned a personal mentor. Clients meet with their mentor for at least 2 hours each week to create, review, and work on young adult goals.
  4. Students have at least 3 hours of therapy per week, and can engage in up to 6 hours of therapy per week.
  5. Our clients' therapist attends every psychiatry appointment.
  6. Every Aloft client is teamed with the entire staff team every week, ensuring collaborative, thorough, and consistent forward momentum each week.
  7. Health and Wellness program. Our young adults have the option to work with a personal trainer for at least an hour 4 times a week and participate in goal-oriented nutrition counseling and coaching.
  8. Outdoor recreation program 2-3 days per week. Clients are engaged in rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing, whitewater kayaking, rafting, hiking, SUP, surfing, boogie boarding, fishing, canoeing, and snowshoeing 2-3 days per week.
  9. Cultural outings 1-2 times per week. Boise is the cultural center of Idaho with museums, shows, and festivals celebrating the arts. Aloft has attended events such as concerts in the Botanical Gardens, Art in the Park festival, and the Renaissance Fair, among others.
  10. Boise has four 4-year universities, two 2-year colleges, several private colleges, and a slew of technical colleges that our students take advantage of.
  11. As the business center of Idaho, Boise has a myriad of industry and companies that our clients intern with 20-40 hours per week.
  12. Independent living: Clients often transition into our independent living phase in Boise or Emmett. Clients continue with weekly therapy, two hours a week on mentor sessions, and they continue to participate in the outdoor recreation program, while living in their own private apartment.
