The Academy at Sisters consistently provides professional development and training for staff to ensure that students and families receive the highest level of support within our therapeutic boarding school. The Clinical Director, therapists, treatment coordinators and other support staff at The Academy at Sisters continuously participate in ongoing training in order to know and incorporate the latest in brain research, key interventions and the most effective modalities.

The most recent training was on Attachment, Trauma, and Psychotherapy: Neural Integration as a Pathway to Resilience and Well-Being with Dan Siegel, M.D., author of Brainstorm: The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain. Additionally, all staff needing certification recently participated in the QPR Suicide Prevention Training.

The next upcoming two-day training our staff will participate in this month will be held by Linda A. Dimeff, Ph.D., Director of the Portland DBT Institute and Chief Scientific Officer at the Evidence-Based Practice Institute. She has worked closely with DBT treatment developer, Marsha M. Linehan, PhD, for over two decades in developing and scientifically evaluating an adaptation of DBT and generating numerous DBT training tools to facilitate the dissemination of DBT. Our therapists and treatment coordinators are looking forward to this spectacular event!

We are fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such amazing students and their families, which would not be possible without the ongoing professional development provided by The Academy at Sisters.
