Academy of Eastern Arizona is a therapeutic boarding school for young women ages 12-17 who struggle with negative behaviors that include anger and defiance, poor decision making, negative peer relationships, tendencies of running away and sneaking out, manipulative or self mutalation and cutting. In addition, the academy works with girls that have ODD/ADD/ADHD, low academic performance or drug or alcohol abuse, depression or anxiety and poor social skills. The Academy of Eastern Arizona is a locked facility.
The Academy of Eastern Arizona's Administrative Director and Owner is Daniel Taylor who has over 14 years of experience working with teens in youth corrections, at a psychiatric hospital and drug and alcohol hospital in addition to being licensed as an Acute Therapeutic Foster Care home with his wife. Phyllis Charles is the Admissions Director and previously worked at Integrity House and Heidi Mock is the Education Director and Principal at the academy.
Upon enrollment, students are assessed academically and receive an Individualized Education Plan and students are assigned an accredited teacher to work with them one on one which enables them to catch up on lost time and credits from their prior school. The academic curriculum includes math, science, social studies, language arts in addition to elective classes. Life skills training and equine therapy is also incorporated into the program and is considered a huge therapeutic component to their program. Students also participate in daily group therapy, weekly individual therapy and monthly family therapy.
