Call for Abstracts for the 2008 Symposium on Experiential Education Research (SEER) At the 37th Annual AEE Conference in Vancouver, WA, USA November 6-8, 2008

Abstracts describing current or recent research in the field of Experiential Education are now being solicited for the Symposium on Experiential Education Research (SEER). The Symposium is a component of the Annual AEE Conference and features formal, peer-reviewed research presentations, followed by questions and comments from the audience.
Four 1 1/2-hour blocks of time will be allocated at the AEE Conference for this symposium, with speakers being allotted 15 minutes for presentation and five minutes for questions and comments. All submitted abstracts will be blind reviewed and ranked according to the following criteria: (a) applicability to the experiential education field, (b) quality of the research, (c) appropriateness of data handling procedures, and (d) connection between the data and conclusions.

CONDITIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

  1. Completed studies or scholarly discussions are suitable for submission. Abstracts of works in progress may also be submitted provided that a full report can be given at the time of the symposium.

  2. Only studies that have not been previously published or presented at another professional conference may be submitted. Papers that ask the same question(s), use the same analysis, or develop the same logical argument as previous publications or presentations are not eligible.

  3. Abstracts undergo blind peer review, and Symposium co-chairs make final decisions about acceptance. Papers may be rejected due to time and space limitations, ineffective development of the 2-page abstract, violation of conditions 2 or 3 (above), weaknesses in the study itself, or failure to follow submission guidelines (below).

  4. Authors who have their abstracts accepted are expected to deliver their presentations as assigned during the Symposium. Please do not submit an abstract unless you are committed to attending the Symposium. Presenters are expected to register for the Conference.

  5. The deadline for submission or abstracts is March 31, 2008.

Please include current contact information. Authors will receive notification, via e-mail, of the status of their submission by May 30, 2008. Presenters will be asked to provide an abstract by August 30th for inclusion in the conference Book of Abstracts. Abstracts will also be published in the Journal of Experiential Education.

The submission deadline is March 31, 2008. Submit an electronic copy of your abstract to:
