Dr. Robert Melillo says ADHD can be cured.

A new study in Pediatrics revealed that nearly one third of kids diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) still had the disorder as adults. With the number of ADHD diagnoses toppling 10.4 million in 2010, this study exemplifies the need for doctors to work towards a cure for the childhood epidemic. However, according to Dr. Robert Melillo of the Brain Balance Achievement Centers, there already is an effective program parents and doctors can implement to eliminate the symptoms and cure ADHD.

Dr. Melillo agrees that ADHD is an ongoing challenge when not properly treated. "What we commonly see is doctors prescribing medication to mask the symptoms related to ADHD," says Dr. Melillo. "While this helps in the short-term, it isn't fixing the root of the problem and as children age the issues related to ADHD are likely to continue."

The root of the issues surrounding ADHD lies in the brain and is referred to as Functional Disconnection Syndrome (FDS). With FDS, there is an imbalance of electrical activity between the left and right hemispheres of the brain resulting in out of sync functioning. If the brain does not stay in rhythm, an entire hemisphere can be off-key and symptoms typical of ADHD can prevail, including emotional issues and lack of coordination.

According to Dr. Melillo, there are ways to help eliminate the symptoms of ADHD and the chances of having related issues later in life are greatly minimized. His groundbreaking Brain Balance Program™ has been medically proven in peer reviewed literature to eliminate the symptoms of ADHD. "We've developed a successful program that tackles the root of the issue to actually fix the problem instead of masking symptoms," continues Dr. Melillo. "The key is to determine which side of the brain is weaker and implement simple exercises that soothe and strengthen the weaker hemisphere."
