NORTH IDAHO STANDOFF
(June 5, 2001)  Regular updates, available at the RuralNorthwest.com web site describe the situation near Sandpoint, Idaho, where five children are holed up in their home, refusing contact with the police, after their mother was arrested. The Ruralnorthwest.com website is the other side of Woodbury Reports Inc. publisher, Lon Woodbury, has assigned a reporter to to sift the fact from the rumor in regards to the Department of Health and Welfare’s attempt to help these children.

EDUCATIONAL CONNECTIONS, LLC OPENS
(June 11, 2001) Ann Locke Davidson, Ph.D. and Patricia Phelan, Ph.D. IECA provisional members, have opened Educational Connections, LLC, (503) 478-9727, phelan@educationalconnections.com, an educational consulting firm, in Portland, Oregon. Formerly holding academic positions at the University of Washington with backgrounds in educational anthropology, emphasising at-risk youth, they spent the last three years visiting and assessing special needs programs throughout the country.

SUWS DOCUMENTARY ON PUBLIC TV
(June 11, 2001) Sue Crowell, Executive Director of SUWS, (208) 934-8917, scrowell@micron.net announced, “Boys Will Be Men,” funded by private foundations and distributed through National Public Television, will soon be airing in various regions nationwide. This SUWS documentary “examines the struggles young men and their families encounter and recognize the personal growth made in the course of a SUWS experience.”

PACIFIC CREST OUTWARD BOUND NEW COURSES
(June 12, 2001) Pacific Crest Outward Bound School, 800-547-3312, announced courses too new to be listed in their 2001-20002 catalog: Parent/Child Alpine Backpacking & Rock Climbing course (#PNB191), for ages 14+ located in the North Cascades, WA from Aug 11-18, and the Tall Ship and Long Boat Sailing Combo (#PUC113), for ages 16+, running Aug 11-24 in the San Juan Islands, WA.

LINDEN HILL SUMMER PROGRAM
(June 12, 2001)  Michael P. Holland, Ex. Dir. of Linden Hill School, Northfield, Massachusetts, 888-254-6336, a school for language-based learning differences, announced their annual summer program will be from July 1 to August 1.  The program balances solid academics with strong athletic, social, cultural, and recreational activities.
