LONGNECKER KEY-NOTE SPEAKER 
(June 2000) Jaynie Selby-Longnecker, Founder and Executive Director of Benchmark Young Adult School, Redlands, California, 800-474-4848, was honored by being invited to be the key-note speaker for the Redlands Adult School graduating class of 2000, which included 17 Benchmark students. Copies of the address can be obtained from Benchmark.

FAMILY SUES ECKERD 
(July 1, 2000) The family of Michael Wiltsie filed a wrongful death suit against both a counselor and his employer, Eckerd Youth Alternatives as a result of their son’s death in Florida last February.

PAUL HURD RESIGNS AS HEADMASTER OF HYDE SCHOOL-BATH
(August 28, 2000) Malcolm Gauld, President of Hyde Schools, 207-443-5584, mgauld@hyde.edu, announced that Paul W. Hurd II resigned as Headmaster of Hyde School in Bath, Maine, and Judee von Seldeneck, Chair of the Hyde Board of Governors, will lead the search committee for a new Headmaster.

DISCOVERY ACADEMY FAMILY GROWS
(August 21, 2000) Tori Ballard, Admissions Director for Discovery Academy, Provo, Utah, 801-374-2121, announced the birth of Carsten J Ballard on August 21, 2000 as a “healthy 6 lb, 6 oz, 18” bundle of joy!” Tori’s maturity leave comes to an end on October 2, 2000 and will return to admissions duty from both the school and her home office.

SUN EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANTS 
(September 2000) Renee Sinclair rsin@sun-ed.com, and Meg Chun, mchun@sun-ed.com, (Sun Educational Consultants) of Bend, Oregon, 541-318-5402, have visited over 60 schools and programs and are starting to take clients as Special Needs Educational Consultants. Both have been teaching for 15 years and are “specialists in providing services to students with emotional and behavioral disabilities, learning disabilities, and students with ADD/ADHD.

NEW STAFF AT NORTHSTAR 
(September 2, 2000) Trina Packard, the new Ex. Director of the NorthStar Center, Bend Oregon, 541-385-8657, who replaced founder and past Executive Director Dennis Crowell, announced new staff, including Sue Isacson as Program/Academic Director, Robbi O’Kelly as Clinical Manager, and Shelly Fitts as Wilderness Supervisor.

ON-TRACK DIRECTOR VISITS WOODBURY OFFICE
(September 5, 2000) Bob Nolan, Director of the On-Track wilderness program (part of the Brown School) outside Austin, Texas, 888-791-2577, stopped by Woodbury Reports to introduce himself and explain some of the improvements that have been instituted in the program since he took over early this year.

HUFFINE CLINICAL DIRECTOR FOR SAGEWALK (September 6, 2000) Chris Kocurek, CEO of SageWalk, the Outdoor School, 800-877-1922, Bend, Oregon, announced Dr. Jay Huffine, a clinical psychologist, has been hired as the Clinical Director for the program.
